Owen White Solicitors Supporting Sebastian's Action Trust

Staff from Owen White Solicitors are undertaking an additional task in 2008, to raise money for a local charity, the Sebastian’s Action Trust. We began raising money for the Sebastian’s Action Trust in 2007 and have raised a total of £8,000.00 so far. We thought that the charity was such a good cause that we decided to continue fundraising for them again this year.

The Sebastian’s Action Trust was set up to fulfil the dreams of Sebastian Gates, a young boy from Ascot who died of cancer when he was 9 years old. His dying wish was that a holiday home be set up so that children with life-limiting illnesses had a place to escape to relax and to spend precious time with their families, away from the hospitals and punishing treatment regimes that govern the lives of cancer patients.

During 2007 we held fundraising events including a quiz night, a barn dance, and entered an impressive 8 teams into the Bananaman Triathlon. This meant that almost half of our staff took part. Our 24 competitors either swam 800m in the lake, cycled 30k or ran 7.5k around the lake. Three of our employees (Russell Ford, Andrew Hayward and Lucy Taylor) also entered the Henley Half Marathon in aid of the charity.

Once again, we have an impressive 8 teams entered into the Bananaman Triathlon which is being held on 20 July 2008 at Dorney Lake.

The charity has raised enough money to build the home now (£500k), but due to having to change the design and specification of the house to meet planning regulations it now has to raise further money to build and furnish it.   Owen White is hoping to raise as much money as possible to go towards furnishing the house.
